On August 21st, 3 city council members - Tim McGallian, Edi Birsan, and Dominic Aliano - voted to open negotiations with a Seeno led development group regarding the CNWS project.

CCA strongly opposes this decision.

At the special City Council meeting, many Concord residents spoke in opposition to the Seeno group, sharing publicly available information which should typically disqualify any candidate for such an important project.

Seeno companies and some principals have been convicted of criminal corruption and abuses, there have been charges of environmental violations and desecration of sacred land, and there has been at least one instance of illegal campaign contributions. Participants in the Seeno development group have a record of suing government entities who get in their way.

Doing business with the Seeno group is a bad idea all around.

We need to move quickly - please sign and share!

Opening negotiations is only the beginning of a long process. Seeno hasn’t actually been confirmed as master developer yet. Public comment also noted that the qualifications of the Seeno group as presented did not compare favorably to the other two proposals. Those other proposals need to be pursued before those groups completely withdraw.

I am signing this petition because I believe it was a mistake to open exclusive negotiations with the Seeno group as a candidate to develop the Concord Naval Weapons Station. There are many reasons this is true, and all have been expressed publicly.

Mistakes happen. But when possible they should be rectified quickly. The best course of action is to correct this error so that Concord and its residents can proceed with this important project with a credible and professional developer - one which respects the environment and the people who have lived on it, and works in good faith with concern for the health and well being of current and future residents of Concord.

My name indicates that I support these two requests:

Place this topic on the agenda of the next City Council meeting
Set aside the direction given to staff on August 21 to negotiate with the Seeno group, and instead direct them to proceed with either of the other candidates

Concord can do better than this. It's City Council should do better than this.

I own a Seeno structure. I wo t sell it because I’ve put so much money and sweat I to shoring it up. They did a crap job on my “affordable” home, and they did a crap job on all of the homes in my community. My floor and ceiling joists’ placement isn’t NEAR to code, nor safe. That’s only one of many good examples of poor craftsmanship I can prove. Whoever gives these Charlatans any building jobs is responsible for giving generations of local folks a royal pain-in-the-ass building they have to rebuild in order to call it home. Shame

This is an important piece of land. Seeno has been a corrupt organization known to sue any government entity that gets in it’s way. It’s qualifications as presented did not compare favorably with the other 2 proposals and those need to be pursued before those groups withdraw.

I am really just against the whole concept of 13,000 homes developed by any company. Thousands of useless lawns and too many golf courses..show me the water ! Wish there were a more imaginative use of land.
